It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to PIPS, as the Principal of our two campuses at Parkview on Hong Kong Island and at Kowloon Station.
I came to PIPS in 2010, with over 30 years experience in the field of Early Years, beginning my career in a demonstration school of a teaching training college in London where I became the Head of Infants after 4 years as a class teacher. I then went on to become one of the management team in the British International School in Bangkok before coming to Hong Kong in 2000 to join ESF as Early Years Coordinator in a Primary School. Now I feel very privileged to be Principal of two community–based schools offering the highest quality educational experiences to young children here is Hong Kong.
At PIPS our principal aims are to provide a safe and caring environment with rich and varied educational experiences so that the children in our schools can flourish, grow, learn and fulfill their potential in every way.
Our curriculum at both PIPS schools is the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate with HK PIPS becoming an authorised World school in 2009 and PIPS Kowloon in 2016. This well established, modern and forward looking curriculum places great emphasis on developing the whole child both academically and personally. It is an inquiry-based approach, with play very much at its heart, designed to engage children and to challenge them whilst equipping them with skills and attitudes that will last for life. Our children are encouraged to ask questions and work together in a collaborative way to solve problems. We expect our children to know how to behave, how to care for others, how to collaborate and to develop good manners.
We recognise that all children are different, learn at different rates and have their own talents and interests. We support individual children in their efforts to learn and develop and seek to motivate and challenge them at the right level. We encourage them to become caring, open minded, tolerant and understanding members of society who realise that other people can have different points of view and beliefs. We want children to understand that they too can make a contribution to making the world a better place.
At PIPS we value parental involvement and welcome parents into school on many occasions to join with us in celebrating the learning that is taking place.
We believe that an open partnership between parents and teachers is fundamental to achieving the very best for all our children.
We welcome you to come to see our school in action and to join with us in special events that we arrange. Please contact us if you would like to have a school tour or would like further information about us.
