Hong Kong PIPS first opened in September 1989 as Hong Kongˇ¦s first family preschool. The school has grown and changed over the years but our commitment to providing quality education in an environment where families are welcome has remained constant.
At PIPS we truly believe that young children learn through play. Play is a way for children to explore their world in a very hands on way. Through play children can learn about all areas of the curriculum including math, science and literacy and they can enhance their fine motor, gross motor and social skills. Learning in this play based environment is facilitated by our qualified Early Years teachers.
We operate an English only section and a bilingual English/Mandarin section. This gives families choices about what will work best for their children. In the English only section , classes are conducted in English and a Mandarin teacher visits the class twice a week to engage and expose children to Putonghua. In the English/Mandarin section one English teacher and one Mandarin teacher are in the classroom at all times to immerse the children in both languages.
We are a truly international school with children and teachers drawn from all over the world. We believe this diversity only enhances our programme. We foster the individuality of our students and staff and we value their differences.
In our latest move to provide the very best education for our young students we have begun the process of becoming an International Baccalaureate Primary Years School. We believe this programme compliments our philosophy and beliefs about how young children learn. For more information about the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme please see their website at www.ibo.org.
Our sister school, Rhine Garden PIPS, was opened in 1994 in the New Territories. Here the curriculum is taught in Cantonese and complimented with Mandarin and English. For more information please go to the PIPS home page and click Rhine Garden.
